What is collagen and why is it important for our skin?
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and the main component of the supportive and connective tissues that provide firm and tight skin. The collagen fibres, made of protein molecules tangled together, not only connect the connective tissue to the top layer of skin (epidermis), but also support and protect it from external pressure. Together with elastin, they ensure that the skin is elastic.
However, as we age, our body's ability to produce collagen decreases. At the same time, external factors, such as UV light, smoking or stress, promote the formation of free radicals. Oxidative stress, which is triggered by free radicals, directly affects the existing collagen structures and inhibits the production of the protein. The consequence: the skin loses its elasticity and wrinkles become much more visible.
What are the beneficial properties of collagen for the skin?
Regular use of products with collagen can support the care of the skin:
- Collagen can bind and release a high amount of moisture to the skin, making the skin appear smoother and more supple.
- It can prevent skin aging, help maintain elasticity and improve skin condition.
- Collagen alone cannot stimulate the formation of new collagen; a "native structure" and collagen peptides are needed for this. Native collagen peptides occur naturally in the skin and can penetrate the skin due to their much smaller size. This sends signals to the skin and communicates with the skin cells.
- Skin care products made from collagen can therefore help to improve the appearance of the skin. Our products (such as the Collagen Face Mask) also contain collagen peptides that are very similar to human collagen peptides and thus have the natural properties of native collagen. Thus, for example, the moisture depots are replenished sustainably.
What should you look for when choosing a collagen product?
In order for the externally applied collagen to communicate with the skin cells at all, it must have a certain protein structure. Scientists call this the so-called native protein form. Since the collagens of animals and humans differ slightly, the more similar animal collagen is to human collagen, the more compatible and effective it is for the skin.
What makes reveel collagen so special?
All our collagen products are 97% similar to human collagen and therefore particularly effective. Thanks to our unique technology, we can preserve the natural properties of collagen as well as the native triple helix structure and safely store the full efficacy until application.
On the one hand, our products contain collagen fibers and molecules that provide intensive skin hydration due to their high water-binding capacity. On the other hand - and this makes our collagen products unique - they contain native collagen peptides. Their similarity to human collagen enables them to communicate with skin cells and work even better than conventional skin care products containing collagen.
This makes your skin visibly firmer, smoothes fine lines and prevents the formation of wrinkles in the long term - for a lasting rejuvenated appearance of your skin!

"The human body impresses me anew every day. By sending the right signals, we make it so that the skin receives this message, understands it and reacts to it in the appropriate way. The signal molecules (collagen peptides) of our collagen products move into the skin and send a signal to which the body responds by producing new collagen." Diana Ferro, CEO |
